19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet saved four early-game chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
